Skinboosters for hydration and skin quality

How injectable skinboosters differ from volume fillers, which goals are realistic, and how product, region, and risks are framed.

What is a skinbooster?

A collective term for injectable preparations, often based on non- or lightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid. Focus is hydration and skin quality, not targeted volume modelling as with a classic filler.

Which goals are realistic?

Studies mainly report signals for improved hydration and radiance. Results for elasticity and other parameters are more mixed. A skinbooster does not tighten lax tissue like surgery and does not replace cause-oriented treatment.

Product and region

Concentration, cross-linking, excipients, intended use, and regions differ. Product and injection plane are adapted to skin thickness, movement, vascular anatomy, and treatment goal.

Course and aftercare

After history and skin analysis, fine injections follow a product-specific pattern. Transient papules, redness, swelling, or bruising are possible. Marked pain, discoloration, or visual disturbance require immediate medical assessment.

Limits and alternatives

With volume loss, tissue descent, or marked laxity, other or combined procedures may be more suitable. More hyaluronic acid is not automatically better; in mobile or unfavourable layers extra volume can look unnatural or migrate.

Frequently asked questions

What do skinboosters achieve?

Skinboosters primarily target hydration and skin quality, not focused volume modelling like classic fillers.

Is a skinbooster a filler?

Both may contain hyaluronic acid but pursue different goals. Skinboosters are used mainly broadly for skin quality; fillers model volume and contour targeted.

How many sessions are needed?

It depends on the specific product, manufacturer information, region, and baseline. There is no universal scheme.

When is thread tightening more suitable?

When the focus is tissue support and tightening rather than hydration, a thread treatment or another method may be discussed after medical examination.
